I smile at dogs and lots of things. A mom had 2 lil guys with her at the cold cut counter this morn and they kept putting bottles of juice in their baskets and Mom kept telling them no. She gave up and we smiled. Juice not worth getting angry over.☺️

Both can bee true, but I have no problem with either of them.

Yup. I'm a weirdo too. It takes everything to resist the urge to roll around on the ground with stranger's pupper.

No way! I've been doing the same - not only smiling, but talking to them, for almost 80 years; I'll do this as long as I can take walks on the streets!

It would be disrespectful not to smile at a dog. Some occasions call for more than a smile. For example: if a dog is looking out an open window at a red light, I’m 💯 going to roll down my window and tell them what a pretty pupper they are, using my best baby talk voice. I like dogs more than people.

Omg! I just did that today. The doggo smiled back too! Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself after feeling silly smiling at random canines. But you can totally be a weirdo if you want to. The world needs more weirdos and less whackos. 🤩

Dog looked at me this morning. Owner said "good morning". I was like Hiya (to the dog). I hope she thought I meant it to her and not just the dog.

I try to pet, with permission of course, every single dog I'm lucky enough to come across. I find it a great way to spend a few minutes.

Always make a sound to attract their attention. If allowed by dog and human, I pet them. Same procedure with cats. Different sounds though and mostly no humans around.

First girl, Riley, would stop people, children were her favourites. I would ask the person if they liked dogs, invariably yes, so I‘d tell them that Riley had chosen them especially to give her scritchies. Children loved it, adults laughed, Riley was happy. Long walks!

A simple "hi puppy!" makes their day.

Everyone smiles at my dog as we walk by. Most ignore me - but always have a little smile for him. Can you blame them? In fact, I am highly suspicious of any one who does not acknowledge him🤔

When I am talking a walk with my donut shaped exercise ball (hip problems), I always smile at the dog while the owners look at me like "WTF?". 😀 Only a small amount of people ask me why I carry the ball around.

I smile, and I tell them how adorable they are—to the dog, not the owner… Specifically not “your dog is so cute.” No! I’m talking directly to the dog, praising it directly 😅😜

I do this all the time--even when I am on my bicycle.

We walk on a public trail daily. So many dogs. I smile at all of them. I say hello. Sometimes I forget to look up and smile at the human walkers. Most of the dogs respond by coming up to us for a pet n scratch. This just makes my day.

My late mother did. She never owned a dog, but when she was in a nursing home she always had dog treats in the basket of her walker so she could give one to every dog she met.

Fellow weirdo here! I talk to ALL the animals! I do it in honor of my Grandma Cow. She used to moo at the cows as we drove by. It would majw ne giggle and giggle. It was a million years ago that she did that - she passed in '84. Makes me smile and my heart sing every time. Bark at them dogs, girl!
