Especially without bans on pervert glasses. A party as devoid of critical thinking skills as it is of empathy (until it's their loved ones).

He's never stopped to think what would happen to liver prices if Americans switched en masse from ground beef to liver. Americans would spend roughly the same amount on groceries, but there'd be far more mealtime fights over whether their kids can have any pudding if they don't eat their meat.

Authoritarian regimes often attack sociology. We're seeing this in US, too. Why? It's a tiny field that, in US, rarely drives public opinion or policy. Most of it is empirical. Much uses data & methods similar to econ, psych, or poli sci. It sometimes seeds these fields w/ ideas & methods. 1/2

Sometimes "doing nothing" is strategic, not weak. If Beshear appoints a D, Thune can just refuse to seat appointee. GOP-led legislature has excuse to impeach Beshear. If he appoints a R or holds special election, GOP gets a vote back. If he does nothing, GOP is down a vote in Sen & on committees.
