This is on top of limiting loans for graduate-level programs that have disproportionately greater number of female students (e.g., nursing). All of a piece with their weaponizing the administrative state to advance pro-natalism/patriarchy. edtrust.org/rti/eliminat...

How the Elimination of Grad PLUS Loans and Classification of Professional Degrees Harm Women and Students of ColorOBBBA’s new regulations impose a lifetime limit on all federal student loans, including undergraduate. This means many students may reach their borrowing limit before completing their degreeedtrust.orgKim Weeden

Except for religious studies, the graduates of these "loan ineligible" majors are disproportionately women. Fans of this policy have probably never considered that social worker, cosmetician, teachers aide, etc might be low-paying jobs *because* women do them. newrepublic.com/post/213446/...

Dr. Fauci is a hero. He really is. He helped guide America thru a mass death event. Millions more could have died but they did not, thanks to him. Everyone over 70 owes him a debt. It is disgusting that we live in a country that not only dishonors him but actively smears his good name.

My thoughts on the crisis of confidence in higher education, and the foolish belief that embracing technology is the solution to that crisis. tompepinsky.com/2026/07/27/t...

Tom Pepinsky

Americans have more confidence in higher education than in big tech companies, and the gap is growing rather than shrinking. The higher ed-doomsday pundits need to get on board with the real vibe shift in public trust that is happening right now.

Sociology has epistemological (science/nonscience), methodological (qual/quat), and political (left/right) divides. It's best when these groups overlap (hi, fellow overlappers!). The external force of right-wing attack is forcing the political divide to the fore. Bad, but maybe inevitable.

Whew, that is a lot. If you make it to the end, sociologists... I do not recommend reading the comments.
