Yet another right-wing attack on sociology. Very telling that it was written by a former NYT opinion writer. Although much better informed than most in its genre, it makes a charicature of the discipline, ignores the politics of the critics, and contrasts sociology with a mythical “hard science”.

For example, is there a better example of “activist sociology” than the “Broken Windows” theory the author here lauds as an example of “empirical sociology”?
