I realise this is Restore Britain etc etc, but it's nonetheless pretty shocking.

Hostile measures inevitably cause harm, yet every time there is loss of life in the channel all we hear from politicians is how they are going to go further on them. It is the ultimate sunk cost fallacy. Actually ensuring people can seek asylum safely is the only way to properly reduce crossings.

We keep seeing it. More people crammed into boats so smugglers can make fewer trips. Routes become longer and more dangerous. We are even seeing more people going back to lorry routes. All the while genuine safe routes are being closed, while the government pretends that it is opening new ones.

This is tragic and all too common. Same old response from Burnham as previous PM's. Instead of focusing on why people have to use irregular routes, or the need to ensure that they can receive asylum without them, it is all about how measures need to be tougher. news.sky.com/story/three-...
