it’s never a great sign for your society when all the competent people who believe in doing a good job for the sake of it conclude that they’re actively being punished for these qualities, while malignantly stupid criminals are making bank

Among many other things this is a good illustration of the necessity of untethering ideology and "fight" in intra-Democratic battles. The party is very united on fight, very divided on ideology. You unite on fight, let different constituencies/states find their center of gravity on ideology.
Then again, the original books were a highly fictionalized account of what was in many ways a bleak existence. They were essentially rewritten by a foundational figure of the Libertarian Party, Rose Wilder Lane. So maybe the TV program is truer. www.history.com/articles/lit...
A new adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s “Little House on the Prairie” is missing the delight found on every page of her books—and in the 1970s television series. www.newyorker.com/culture/on-t...
We still don’t know all the details of how Barr’s DOJ criminally framed Joe Biden. The “free” press largely ignored scandalous details abt Hunter’s investigation (such as that DOJ relied on doctored form at trial). And anon protesters are at far greater risk.
Don MoynihanAmerica is weird because we have a free press but also an authoritarian government and so we learn in pretty close to real time the shit that is not revealed in other authoritarian settings until decades later.
This stolen money needs to be returned to blue states by the next administration with interest.
Murshed Zaheed“Trump has rejected disaster aid for Democratic-run states at the highest rate in the 47-year history of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.” Right now people in blue states are basically paying federal taxes as if they’re colonized territories of red states. www.politico.com/news/2026/03...

Lmao imagine Congress ratifies a treaty with Iran with minimal input from the executive because it is just so crushingly unpopular. One way to reestablish legislative supremacy.
“It could take at least a year for OMB to respond to the comments and amend the draft rule”. Friends, this is a direct result of our collective action. The OMB Rule that would require political review of grants has prompted at least 50K comments. Thanks to all who commented, and you still can.
I SHOUTED OUT “WHO’D VOTE FOR ALAN KEYES?!” / WHEN AFTER ALL IT WAS YOU AND ME
The Shitpostman (Il Shitpostino)Wait on second thought I voted for Keyes.
Opinion: For roughly 180,000 small businesses operating in New York, the Democratic socialist mayor of America’s largest city intends to offer the kind of support previously reserved for large companies. ft.trib.al/LJHxHjZ
It is reprehensibly scandalous that the US Senate called a hearing so MAGA could pillory Anthony Fauci with these imbecilic lies instead of addressing the war in Iran; the rising cost of gas, groceries and utilities; the lack of affordable healthcare; or Trump’s widespread corruption 97 days, folks
Aaron RuparRon Johnson claims the the "injection injured" are committing mass suicide
Second option, please. It's the future of the party and the way to rebuild legitimacy. Right now the Democratic Party's brand is at rock bottom. The way back up is to start living up to our stated ideals.
Eric BlairThere are two paths Dem leaders have. One: Status quo. Court big donors, downplay Trump, be centrist, promise to fight but in fact run from impeachment. Two: Change. Loudly take on Trump, use every tool in the toolbox, reject crypto and big money. Ken Martin is caught between them.
Here's a larger data set. Note that the rank order is pretty good! The correlation coefficient is +0.934, where +1.0 is perfect. And a measure of getting the order right, which is called "rank correlation", is an amazing +0.980. tl;dr we're good at comparing, but we are the pits at quantifying

Um....no, this does not explain anything. People are very bad at estimating quantities. Why would this be any different? Note that respondents did get something right: the ordering in size of these five groups: Christian > Catholic > Atheist > Jewish > Muslim which is actually pretty good!
Joel S.This actually explains something about how people talk about the Jewish community.
Exceptional clarity from Science magazine but we need to take this one step further. Their design to break academic science is coupled with their design to re-segregate higher education and control culture, ideas, and memory. It fits with anti-DEI policies and Trump disclaimers at the Smithsonian.
