Mike was a significant person in the British Columbia Search and Rescue community. He helped shape BCSARA into a professional volunteer organization. All SAR members perform better because of his commitment and efforts. He will be greatly missed.

There is a stream of research on organizational commitment with 3 types of commitment - affective, normative, and continuance. Research shows that affective and normative commitment have positive effects for employees and the organization. Continuance Commitment, however, is not good.
