The NTP has confirmed two EF2 tornadoes at Rocky Mountain House in southern AB on July 18. They caused significant tree damage. In addition, the first destroyed a well-constructed outbuilding while the second caused damage to the roof structure of a home. Details: uwo.ca/ntp/blog/202... #ABstorm

We have certainly seen wildfire smoke plums create their own lightning, and start new fires here too! Thankfully, it doesn’t happen often.

At one point… also a pileus cap formed above this pyrocumulus plume as intense wildfire heat forced air rapidly upward. As the rising air hit moist air aloft, the moisture condensed into the temporary cloud cap. A sign of powerful updrafts and rapid cloud growth!
