Was really happy to take a picture with @miketoole.com at Otakon earlier today. They’ve been a huge inspiration to me writing-wise since I discovered their work on high school. Very nice and understanding!

Happy 44th birthday to @animecommentary.bsky.social! Cool individual whose streams I’ve been to a few times and is committed to documenting the things they love.

I just backed Kobra Olympus Issue #4 "Giant Armadillo Attack!" on @kickstarter.com www.kickstarter.com/projects/jam...

I agree with this, especially in the instance of media outlets capturing instances of extreme emotions for clicks. There was a conversation about this earlier this year when tennis player Coco Gauff had what she thought was a private breakdown at the Australia Open. youtu.be/v42mSqFZvW0

I don’t get why people get so upset over athletes showing some passion. The littlest amount of screaming with joy or anger will have people wagging their fingers.

Damn Kelly. AI being lower on the public consensus than ICE does feel like the general attitude for a good number of people.

How heartening, in polarized times, that people are coming together in opposition to pricey energy facilities. @theonion.com

Just finished this a month later. There’s actually not that many interviews with the guy who helped direct 31 episodes of Hilda: The Series and the movie, so listening to this was a treat. As an American, I always love learning about what pieces of media are a shared experience in a country (1/2)

New podcast is out! I interview Andy Coyle, director of Hilda and the awesome animated horror anthology Don't Walk Home Alone After Dark. We talk about his work a well as his thought on the current challenges in Canadian animation. www.zannen.ca/2026/06/epis...

I remember being disappointed when I saw @/bitterkarella.bsky.social‘s podcast “A Special Presentation” cover it and them and their co-host were generally confused by its existence. It’s easy to dunk on Doonesbury but I thought it deserved that Oscar thanks to what NaveryW says here.

"A Dunesbury Special" is maybe the only genuine example of American "adult animation" I've ever seen in the sense that it addresses adult concerns and in the sense that any child who tried to watch it would probably find it pretty boring. It also maintains visual interest despite its verbosity.

For it to be gambling, it would have to involve kids actually betting money on it. Some do, but that was never the actual goal. By this logic, literally every card game ever made is gambling from the jump, because all these companies want to make money.

I do understand the hate for scalpers and the Pokemon card economy, but let’s be real here. The whole thing was always essentially gambling for children, encouraging mindless consumerism for heaps of plastic. The artistry behind them is nice but it’s never been some noble hobby

month late, but I’m really happy to find this thread by Mallorie that’s a generous counter-response to the latest video essay by @slimemildred.bsky.social. (Boomers DO get an “adjusted adult” pass regardless of their attitudes toward media!) Folks willing to “find merit” in kids’ stuff feels (1/2)

I kind of feel bad they feel this way about themself. I think the mythical adult millennials wish they were , never really existed. And as funny as it sounds, I think it takes a pretty emotionally mature person to see the philosophical merit to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The year 2014 when I first got a Crunchyroll subscription and tried keeping up with currently airing anime: DanganRonpa, Kill La Kill, Attack on Titan, Flowers of Evil, Kotoura-San. It wasn’t much, but I remember having fun reading the site’s comments and watching shows along with other people.

OK, we've had the talk about bullying and the discourse that's been bubbling today. Let's do something positive: What as your coolest, most favorite experience as an anime fan? Doesn't have to be anything special, just has to be something that you remember fondly.
