Cops, Drs, lawyers, teachers, faith leaders; these are people who are awarded tremendous privilege and power in our society. If you abuse that power, you should absolutely be held to a higher standard. *Nobody* should get an easy time after using violence but people in power? Throw the book at 'em

Growing up Canadian, this wasn’t as much of a thing, but it happened. I had a friend in high school whose parents saved the last few antibiotics pills in case someone needed them next time. Antibiotics! I still get apoplectic thinking about it 30 yrs later
