I first watched it around the time when I came out to myself, when I was 14. Not gonna lie, "crawled through a river of shit and came out clean on the other side" defined my life at that time. I kept the movie poster on my bedroom wall until I left home to remind me it would get better.

@goatsarah.org's had a very neat way of encapsulating this problem for the last ten years or so: anti-trans campaigners have won the media "air war". Media coverage is far more influential than winning on the ground on its own.

I know what you mean. It's the brutality of the change, coupled with the impunity of not needing to consult at all. They can change what they like, when they like, and there's no checks or balances anymore. They have total control over every part of the state.

At the very least, trans advocacy organisations should have been consulted on this change. They weren't. This change is being done by cis people, on behalf of cis people only. You claim there is a "clash of rights", but our human rights weren't even considered. bsky.app/profile/nata...

It's not absolutely essential that sex-at-birth is shared between doctors. I've been accessing the NHS as a trans person, under the current system for disclosing trans status, for over twenty years. It has never been a clinical issue. There is no clinical justification for this change.

Does that suggest they can't automate this process, and it needs manual intervention from admin staff? Feel free to say "I don't know", I think there's a lot about this we don't know at this stage 😞

Every time someone asks me about my sex at birth I'm going to ask them why they want to talk about the genitals of children. Loudly.

This is yet another hideous indignity forced on trans people by the Labour Party. I will never ever forgive them as long as I live. They are an absolute cesspit of transphobic bigotry and are destroying trans people’s lives
