This is why I call AI-generated texts doubly extractive: Not only do they extract material from what others have produced, they also extract meaning from their readers because an AI-generated text has no meaning in itself since no one has written it.

They want to read what other humans think and experience and live through, and what they’ve struggled to create from it.
