Homo ludens! The three shadows you see are playing kids. One with a hobby horse, one is playing hide and seek, and the third one is hoop rolling. The year is 1682, and this is a tiny detail in a 1682 published book of engravings about the city of #Augsburg.

The unknown animal was a marketing gag back then. It was an Indian Sloth Bear they were moving through Europe.

One last thing before I end this thread. The shown wild animals were offered and sold to Europeans too. The broadside does mention this point explicitly. "Mom, can we have a polar bear, pleeeeeeeeaaase?"
