Too hot to think or write, so I worked on publishing the dataset of my research instead. Turns out it's pretty chunky! 1'000+ pages of sources about life in the Alps from the 13th to the 17th cent. Hope it'll help others, so that they don't have go through as many editions & archives as I did

any tips on how to read for a thesis? do you write excerpts for every book/article you read or how do you do it? I‘m currently writing my master thesis in history and I‘m interested how others do it

With the caveat that I'm pretty atypical (I think) and that it depends on the goal/framing of the thesis: If I read a text in order to find out if there's something useful/interesting in it, I sorta speedread through it. I. e. I look at the index to see if anything catches my eye & go through these/

Oh and if anyone is interested: It'll be a while until it's public and it'll be released with titles and tags describing the contents of each source - because my summaries are all in Bernese German & I can't translate all that into another language <.< But I'll do so for specific entries if asked!
