This is a great profile on the late Michiyo Yasuda. One of the most influential color designers in animation history. She led the incredible color design for My Neighbor Totoro and Grave of the Fireflies SIMULTANEOUSLY!

He's smart and clever. And technically was dragged away from his home for a war he set the groundwork for but didn't want to be in. Odysseus is clever but he's not really the definition of "winning" over the course of the narrative.

So what? she shouldn't have criticized the film?

Technically if you wanted to play up the non con of the Calypso story. Or the fact he's probably sleeping with Circe in exchange for his men being restored - you can in fact be like "yes he's smart and clever" but it doesn't do him SHIT against being used and coerced. Nor does it save him from gods.

People who are suddenly deported to countries they haven’t been to for years — or, in some cases, have NEVER been to — are incredibly vulnerable. We are going to be reading stories like this for years. God have mercy on their three little girls.

I am working very hard meal planning and not giving my elderly parents the death of exploding poops. And I'm also so fucking mad cause my fav girl dinner was pre packaged Cesar salads. Now I can't even have that and have to figure out how to grow lettuce in a tabletop hydroponic.
