Nothing like a toddler to make you really think through your cliches. Liz just said "keep your eye on this part of the carton" and he put his whole face on the milk carton so his eye was directly touching the indicated portion lol

I highly recommend reading “Ordinary Men” by Christopher Browning if you want to understand how truly ordinary men function
Asha Rangappa🧵 This piece is really important, because it gets to something that is a prerequisite for and recurring feature of atrocities worldwide: selective empathy. Most people assume that when atrocities happen, it’s bc everyone involved is a sociopath. Some are. But not all. 1/
Personally if I thought my investment was a good one I would simply not hide it lol

TikTok has incredible moderation team. Our InfoWars video about Multiple Horse Theory — the idea that there are many horses in the world and not just one — has been fully deemed misinformation and lost the formal appeals process. Confirmed by Larry Ellison: There is only one horse on Earth.
These are evil men doing evil things

excellent article I encourage people to click through for details just a few screenshots - TLDR books before 2022 are the last text we know for sure wasn't ruined by AI slop... so they're systemically destroying the books to cheaply cut corners while converting them into poisonous AI slop to resell

whenever you see people saying stuff "well there's a way to make data centers that aren't loud" or "there's a way to build data centers that aren't constantly running hyper polluting generators" it's also possible to scan books without destroying them BUT that's slightly more expensive so they won't

We're calling on the House of Commons to conduct an inquiry into human rights violations in Alberta - use the tool below to quickly send an email to members of the standing committee on human rights. The notwithstanding clause my allow a law to pass, but human rights are non-negotiable.
Queer Momentum📣💥We’re launching a new campaign! Join us in pressuring the House of Commons to conduct an inquiry to cast a spotlight on Premier Smith’s callous anti-trans policies, and uplift the voices of trans youth and families. Visit queermomentum.ca/inquiry to join the movement.

Can we stop AI from flooding scientific journals? cen.acs.org/policy/publi... "...the only lasting solution is changing how scientists are evaluated: away from volume and toward quality." Yes! This ☝️ a major conclusion in my last book. 🚨 Quality > Quantity 🚨

deepfake nudes are, of course, integral to the future of space exploration
Lora KolodnySpaceX-owned xAI, the developer of Grok, sued Minnesota AG to challenge a law coming into effect in the state that will ban "nudify" apps, use of these AI image generators to make non-consenting intimate images, aka AI deepfake porn of real people including minors. www.cnbc.com/2026/07/28/s...

Billionaires believe they're entitled to our democracy. Tax the ultra-wealthy.
Running 5 grocery stores is cheaper and gets way more publicity than a means tested direct subsidy, and generates big support from the left and mild good faith questions from the centre. It's as much a political answer as a policy one. Which is fine! He's doing politics! That's (part of) the job lol

Striking how Samuel Moyn has to have a nonsense argument with positions liberals don't actually hold, parring with some sort of imagined liberal-imperialist wing because the alternative is being the sort of square who, like, opposes fascists, as opposed to the edgy dude that opposes liberals.
Joe StiebTwo paragraphs in and we are already thick in the bullshit.

Parents are fed up with friends and relatives giving their kids “personalized” AI-generated storybooks with characters resembling their kids. Apart from data privacy concerns, literacy experts say these garbled and convoluted narratives could be an impediment to learning how to read.
