NEW: The Trump administration's recent banning of a data privacy protection technique that the Census Bureau used for decades has delayed the release of one-year estimates from the American Community Survey, which many local community leaders and researchers rely on www.census.gov/newsroom/pre...

The OMB thing is huge, this is unarguably a Dem W. The rule they blocked was critical to the SAVE act. Part of the reason people think "feckless Dems can't do shit" is because wreckers post nonsense like this, framing clear wins as losses because they either don't know better, or have an agenda.
Murshed ZaheedPatty Murray and Chuck Schumer decide to strike a “bipartisan” deal with … checks notes … Susan Collins to fund the Trump regime through December which appears to not to any include any safeguards against Trump’s meddling with midterm elections.
One thing I document in my book is that companies that engage in slave labor are also going to have all kinds of other health, safety, and labor violations.
Chad LoderThe diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour.
It's pretty infuriating that Trump is denying disaster aid to Oregon for political reasons and I have barely heard anything about it, while Biden was falsely accused of doing the exact same thing to North Carolina and millions of people believed that

For the first time in roughly two decades of Pew Research Center surveys, both Canadians and Mexicans now view China significantly more positively than the U.S. In 🇨🇦: 🇨🇳 44% favorable 🇺🇸 33% favorable In 🇲🇽: 🇨🇳 59% favorable 🇺🇸 40% favorable
Last week, the government made some changes to the Public Charge Rule. These changes will harm many immigrants with disabilities. To learn more about these changes and how they will harm our communities, read our full plain language statement: autisticadvocacy.org/2026/07/chan...
This month is the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and it reminds me that the ADA could not be passed today. It probably couldn’t get a vote in committee today.

I cross-referenced my database of candidates against credible voter fraud cases. GOP politicians are implicated at 50x–38,000x the general public's rate. Yet even if every American voted with the integrity of a GOP candidate, it still wouldn't come close to justifying making voting one iota harder.
One of the strongest security features of U.S. elections is the fact that they aren't conducted at the federal level. America votes in more than 10,000 different election jurisdictions, each with different rules set by state and sometimes local governments. https://to.pbs.org/3T4duz3
This AP investigation into David Brouillette, the ICE agent who shot Durán Guerrero in Maine is genuinely horrifying. Long history of extreme mental illness, chronic violence agst spouses and kids, PTSD and heightened violence from mil service. apnews.com/article/ice-...
1. After pushing anti-trans laws to ‘protect women’s sports’, Project 2025’s Heritage Foundation now wants women’s sports gone to ‘assist fertility.’ Turns out it was about women’s sports all along—if getting rid of women's sports counts, that is.
“A look at the numbers suggests that you can probably chill out a bit.” That’s it. I’m calling this outbreak “turd immunity.”
The best story ICE could make up, after 12 hours, is that ICE agents shot someone in the head because they believed the person they shot, who was not accused of any crime, was a different person also not accused of any crime, and so "public safety" required killing them on the spot.
Bill GrueskinIt took DHS 12 hours to come up with this statement, And the best they could come up with is that ICE shot and killed an unarmed man who didn’t present a threat to the agents. They know they fucked this one up. And it’ll be up to state and local prosecutors—not the feds—to make the case
[everybody, all at once] we fucking told you
James GoodwinMy god. The Heritage Foundation, which mercilessly attacked transgender kids in order to protect the "integrity of women's sports," is now attacking the legal basis for women's sports. The transgender student decision is barely 2 weeks old.
I'm not sure most people understand that the proposed OMB rule is not just about NIH. In addition to scientific research, it would cover federal grants that also fund healthcare, public health, education, housing, clean water, transportation, and job training. Total $1.1 trillion.
