I don't wish living through a firestorm on anyone. It is awful. And the two I witnessed (2003 Cedar, 2007 Witch Creek) were cataclysmic at the time but are "small potatoes" now. I can't wrap my mind around the scale of what's happened since--and worse... what's next.

I think this is the fundamental L/R difference. One side thinks all humans are autonomous and should be treated with dignity, fairness, respect. The other believes in a hierarchy where some humans have a "right" to control others.
