On the topic of Sen. I used to think (when I was much younger) that he was more of a "philosopher economist," "more sociologist than economist" (whatever that means). But then I encountered this, and learnt he made many original contributions to social choice, and was a v good mathematical writer.

Scientific reasoning aims to convince other scientists in an epistemic community using a local ecology of acceptable reasons. Excellent work by @heintz-c.bsky.social and Stefaan Blancke
Rob Sica✨"Social epistemology needs a theory of reasoning that would explain the type of social interactions it describes as the root of scientific knowledge production. And here is the good news: the argumentative theory of reasoning is a rather good candidate for that purpose." philpapers.org/rec/HEITUE

sad fact: this also makes frogs (all amphibians, really) extremely sensitive to water pollution, and consequently populations have been experiencing significant decline for decades.
Massimo (mirror)Frogs don't drink water in the same way humans do. Instead of drinking, frogs absorb water through their skin, which is highly permeable, allowing water to pass through it via osmosis. Original post

They keep trying to make "correlation is cognition" happen. Through asserting: 1️⃣ models with only correlationist powers (data and correlations over that data) work well & 2️⃣ our own cognitive powers are no different to these machines, which can only rehash the past. @andreaeyleen.eurosky.social 1/
