Powerful unions boycott Labour Women’s Conference over trans ban Unison, Aslef, Usdaw, and the Musicians’ Union will not attend Labour Women’s Conference in September over the decision to ban trans women from formal proceedings at the event 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 metro.co.uk/2026/07/29/m...
i wrote up some new technical writing for my folks who run labellers! 💞
We have an increasing number of folks offering services around the kind of social technology that the Atmosphere can help build. Congrats to @kandake.africa on launching with @eskahlay.com
EvelynAfter AtmosphereConf I was hit with the realization that I couldn't continue working in corporate tech where I had could not see the impact of my or the companies work on communities. I've started a new venture, Eskahlay, rooted in my nubian culture to build sustainable community technology.
“my aim is to produce a guide—visual and written—of immediate use to folks who’d like to do things on the internet without being stuck in maximally corrupt systems, but who aren’t plugged into at-proto stuff enough to know or care about any given project purely because of its use of the protocol”
Erin KissaneI would like to bring more of the fruits of the AT Protocol to the people who don't care about protocols, which is most people. www.wrecka.ge/launching-a-...
A short thread explaining trans exclusion in the law, and the Code of Practice, in response to a load of questions 🧵 Obviously this is necessarily simplified. I cannot write a legal textbook on Bluesky.
"Give him more than a week" say the people who have not been segregated from society, while he rolls out even more anti-trans policies and gives positions of power to people who hate us.
"This is distressing to trans people as well as those of us within the profession who continue to support trans patients.”
If you are quote-posting a story you don’t like from an outlet that constantly provokes you…you are executing their marketing strategy.
The biggest difficulty for trans rights – the general public seems to believe the new guidance makes it possible to exclude eg trans women from women's services in some circumstances. No. This was the previous position. The current guidance requires their exclusion, always, regardless of context.
150,000 marched yesterday in London for trans rights. Opened the Sky News app. Scrolled and scrolled. Nothing. BBC News app. Nothing. Guardian app. Nothing. This is what actual silencing looks like.
The official government response to London Trans Prides message to Andy Burnham from the end of various articles: A Government spokesperson said: ‘The Government is committed to protecting the rights, dignity and safety of all LGBT+ people. 🧵 (me- this is simply insulting)
We'll be back at Newspeak House's beautiful covered terrace on 30 July for our second annual summer drinks social. No talks or presentations, just lovely drinks and chats with people in the community. RSVP here! luma.com/42emvbsy
1 in 500 people of the UK were there. Meanwhile, the Beeb will headline a single transphobe protesting a trans doctor for years.
One of the organisers on stage has stated that their current attendance estimate is 150k people.
What The Trans?! 🏳️⚧️This concludes our reporting of London Trans+ Pride 2026. Only time will tell what the true attendance numbers were, but it definitely feels significantly larger than last year. Thank you for coming.
I can't believe it - @transunityquilt.bsky.social is now live! All 96 meters of length, hundreds and hundreds of patches, hundreds and hundreds of people - an ENORMOUS statement of trans solidarity and love and refusal to be erased. We are so much more than the hatred thrown at us... 1/x
Trans Unity Quilt ProjectIt's alive! The Trans Unity Quilt is now online in its full digital archive - with enormous gratitude to every single person who contributed. This is a true vision of who the trans community are, the love and rage we share, the future we're fighting for. www.transunityquilt.com
We are well over two-thirds of the way towards our first anniversary fundraising goal! But we still need your help to get over that last stretch to ensure that we can keep supporting our trans journalists. Any support goes a very long way!
166 MPs including 8 out of 11 members of the equality select committee
QueerAFBridget Phillipson confirmed she will implement the Code despite 166 MPs signing an Early Day Motion opposing it.
If your coworker gets divorced and reverts to their prior name, it’s unprofessional not to honor that. Your personal views don’t enter in. If your coworker goes through a religious conversion that involves changing their name and you don’t honor that — again, unprofessional! How’s this different?
Dan SohegeGood. Look, if it is a genuinely honest error, most people I know, including myself, aren't going to make a fuss beyond maybe a gentle clarification first time. If people wilfully misgender trans and non-binary individuals though they absolutely should face misconduct proceedings.
