There is a time-honored Sacramento tradition of fleecing billionaires. Burn their money while pretending they can get something that isn't quite possible, as long as they keep burning money... Could be what's happening here. But it does seem like the governor is on board.

It all checks out. Newsom's economic office put out a memo in support of the project last week, and today's meeting was hardly a secret. The Post is new to California and is aggressively breaking stories to build audience. (Koehn was previously at the San Francisco Chronicle and other outlets)

No. Josh Koehn is a serious reporter. Not sure why he joined that paper, but I've followed his career and his reporting is legit. No one is disputing any details or facts in the story. Koehn got the scoop and the other California media outlets aren't paying close attention.

Some very obtuse people think California Forever is about housing. But real estate is an actual business. There are people who do it for a living. None of those people would do anything this stupid. California Forever is not about housing or economic development. It’s about billionaire power.

It’s not a parking lot. A parking lot would have infrastructure around it. A parking lot would make this an infill project. Only an idiot thinks this is a good idea. You clearly don’t know the details.

If you ever feel unqualified, remember that a gang of billionaires spent $900 million for 60,000 acres with no water, no infrastructure, a roster of endangered species, and a voter-approved ordinance that specifically bans building a city there. Now they’re begging politicians to bail them out.
