There are many different types of engineer. I came across several at university. Some were normal, sensible thinking people. Some weren't! I wonder where Kemi fits.

I love that the tories finally have a 'plan' about anything after 14 years of thumb twiddling. You could argue tory inaction caused many of the problems we now face.

I was amazed by the suggestion that they had a plan. I've read the article and I'm none the wiser. It all sounds like cakeism to me. "We will cut your energy bills by, er, building nuclear power stations". Er okay. Yes that's is good for baseload but how long have they spent building Hinkley C?

And cutting wind and solar (which they seem to be suggesting) means we would be more at risk of price fluctuation because North Sea Oil won't be owned an operated by HM Energy but by BP / Shell etc and sold on the open market. Which helps us reduce our carbon emissions how?

I cant read the print on this but sounds like I may have a bit of sympathy with her point. We should stop arguing about climate change/net zero and focus on agreed facts. Fossil fuels WILL run out and DO pollute locally & globally. Makes economic sense to INVEST in #greeneconmy not airports. #wato

Worked as a software engineer at Logica (now CGI Group) from 2003 to 2006. Also employed as a systems analyst at RBS.

Interesting of course the decline of the reform polling not really seen Tory go much up … how many reform voters would vote tidy ?? More likely a lot go to not voting or look at the restore vote in Manchester and the Makerfiekd election

I think it has been underestimated how much the actual Reform vote came from previous non-voters - in our last set of local elections, the Reform vote multiplied whilst not affecting the Tories at all. We (Labour) lost votes to the Greens mainly. Those people will go back to not voting.

that you are (or were) an engineer in a completely irrelevant discipline to the subject under discussion is pretty silly. I’m an engineer, you would not however want me designing a bridge. (Plus hasn’t she been in politics a while? Can’t have been a software eng very long)

I'm an engineer as well, Kemi. What I don't know about how to build and set up a prototype racing car could be written in large letters on an ant's arse. So could what I can apply of my knowledge to guiding climate change policy. You're a software engineer and I've got an ant's arse you can borrow.
