They article talks about an 18 year old and a 17 year old. Kurtaj is the 18 year old. Stalking was done by the 17 year old. The 17 year old got 18 months of Youth Rehabilitation. Kurtaj got essentially a life sentence.

I spent years in school getting suspended for "hacking" but they figured out how to put my skills to use and keep me out of trouble, I wish the real world out here could work like that. I guess it can in some situations.. but unlikely. so I guess my only solution is one that is unrealistic as heck

I haven’t seen that they’re looking for recompense — I don’t even know if the statute allows for that. What I know is that they were called as a witness, which again is compulsory to appear, and then testified as to what their damages were, as they were required to.

What search engine are you using? I only found two articles that mentioned Kurtaj being violent: the linked BBC page here and a Communications of the ACM article that doesn't give a source. Either the 'violence' was his Rockstar hack, or he antagonized the guards while incarcerated.
