that pokemon "3d recomp" is definitely vibe-coded in a very narcissistic fashion. absolutely zero real work; just lifting the pokered decomp wholesale, and breaking half the game with it, turning it into an abomination. that absolutely deserves to be called out for what it is.

You probably don't need us to tell you that ModRetro is a company very forwardly run by war criminal Palmer Lucky, and that knowingly doing business with them in the year 2026 is a clear sign that parties involved in any deal with them are too cynical / money-minded to give a shit about that fact.

If you've got even an ounce of a soul in your body, you don't touch anything by ModRetro. It's too intrinsically linked to Palmer Luckey and his cohorts. I know the vast majority of you haven't and won't, but it's always worth a fresh reminder.

anyway developing for DOS (or other vintage hardware) gives you interesting limitations and most of the aesthetic things people are digging about You Have Died came about as a result of those limitations. so i recommend giving it a try

I had similar feelings when I decided to switch my main fursona to goat and literally give her my name after all the thought and deliberation and art I put into my skunk. But it's ok because people are multifaceted. Different fursonas can represent different facets of us, like surfaces of a gem.
