Remember back in the day, and you had your favorite radio station, or two, and you knew the DJs that were on at what time? "Hey 'The Rev' is coming on at 4 pm, don't change it!" I miss those days.

99X Atlanta with Banes, Leslie, and Jimmy. I had a 99X freeloader card that I mailed in my form from the back page of Creative Loafing to get, and I got to get in to free concerts in downtown Atlanta with all the other grunge nerds. Then clear channel fucked ATL radio up. We lost fox97 too. Tragedy.
CFNY 102.1FM There’s a whole song about them, and others. youtu.be/g_QtO0Rhp0w?...

Protest Song Of Week: 'Last DJ' By Tom Petty & the HeartbreakersTom Petty railed against corporate consolidation and how greedy "company men" were destroying music on his 2002 album, "Last DJ."share.googleIf you haven't seen it you gotta watch FM. It's a love letter to rock music in the 70s and captures the feel. Live concerts mainly in the Houston Summit and LA. Interesting to see WWWW Detroit in Howard Stern's "Private Parts". They *exactly* recreated a studio of the era. Even to ITC cart machines
Did the radio make the music or did the music make the radio? It's an era that will never return. "As we celebrate mediocrity All the boys upstairs want to see How much you'll pay for What you used to get for free"~Tom Petty, "Last DJ"
I was definitely a Johnny Fever guy. BUT, Venus Flytrap was super cool. But mostly, just waiting for Bailey to walk in the office. (I always remember the first episode.)
Just listen to WFMU. The radio is still there! The morning show is the best. Great old music. Great brand spanking new music. Callers, contests, weird skits. Free. On the air. wfmu.org

I remember! Rob Sherwood at U100 was a fav. I still have that experience with 89.3 The Current. Link if you’re interested in checking it out. www.thecurrent.org
They’re still here. We are the ones that changed. I listen to the radio when I drive. The Kidd Kraddick morning show is still on even though he passed away in 2013. Coast to Coast AM is still late night scares, its just with George Noory now & Delilah is still taking requests in the evening.
The Rev is still on at ten, Saturday nights on wioxradio.org with Merideth KG.
