I'm not a Luddite for being irritated that someone is shoving me into a trunk where I don't know who is steering the car. AI should not be used for everything. Especially not when it contributes so heavily to climate change and drought.

george wrote indy being in a relationship with a fourteen year old and didn’t see a problem with it. frankly i have never trusted his judgement or strength of character 🤷🏻

My whole theory on George has been that he modeled his entire professional identity on being the “trailblazing tech” guy in movies instead of “storyteller”. This fits.

I admire the living hell outta Lucas for coming-of-age American Graffiti and the phenomenal Star Wars Trilogy. He'll ALWAYS have that. Yet Mister Lucas is wrong about encouraging AI to nudge aside human creativity and take over moviemaking. That we mere humans are helpless to stop it. Oh, REALLY???

It's hilarious that he's promoting a technology that is sycophantic and won't tell you your ideas are bad, when this kind of thing from humans is what led to the very mediocre entries in his Star Wars franchise. Toward the end everyone was just terrified of not getting his literal stamp of approval.

Pro AI messaging always involves the sentiment that "there's nothing you can do about it." Instead of trying to demonstrate something positive to convince people (which they seemingly can't) they portray it as inevitable and disempowering humanity by saying they can't stop it anyway.

Yeah, look, after getting some understanding of how the recursive neural network works and scope of work? I'm not against the technology itself. I'm against the misuse, the saturation and the outright abusive language around it. I do have a choice about it and I ain't touching it.

The ironic part is that the luddites weren't anti-technology. They had legitimate concerns about quality of the product, exploitation of workers especially children and the loss of jobs and livelihoods for the textile workers.
