I think what we’re seeing broadly for lots of people is the internet has become a really effective rage inducing machine and also it sorts people into different pictures of reality, which makes it harder and harder for people to accept reality that diverges from their picture unless they try to.

And yet my kids love them. I do so wish they always liked the well written ones but alas.

It feels like Congress could approve stimulus to work in tranches based on incoming data. So much initially with more available if certain data benchmarks are hit.

I went to a philosophy professor’s talk where he ran through these fine grained examples with different scenarios that all had the same effective result but we as a group characterized them as morally distinct. People are very good at justifying things despite their similar impact.

I don’t understand why there’s no coalescing around Barnes. He’s 2nd, he was Lt Governor, he lost the Senate race by a narrow margin, and he leads in head to head polls versus his Republican challenger.

Like every entitled kid who wants to have their father to intervene when they don’t like how the other kids are playing.

In some ways it forces you to think of your worth in less careerist terms and more in human terms, ‘am I being the best person I can be.’ Also, none of that person’s 20 years was ‘worthless’ because these machines are nothing without our knowledge base.

Shorter than advertised

How about instead of just creating something new, reinvigorate existing channels of service? America has a ton of ngos and community groups. Just give them some money and support.

What does that mean? You obviously need a response. I feel like I’ve seen more fear posts about “a race to the bottom” than actual ideas about what should happen and real organizing to make it happen.
