You can make them with arrays of PC fans too if you need them to be quiet!

Can confirm, a fire took out several appartments in my complex two years ago, including mine. The air around the development was smoky, sooty, and polluted for about a week after. Setting one of these up in the apartment I was staying in made the air so much better!

Agreed, we make a new one every couple of months and they work for other allergens too!

I refresh mine every 6 months! Easy to build. You get a deal with most suppliers on 4 fans. Filters out so much dust in my apartment.

I keep one of those cheap box fans and a 4 pack of MERV filters out in the garage. I bought the fan the last time we had really bad fire smoke and had zip tied a MERV filter I found at the hardware store to the intake side. It was enough to handle what the HEPA on the central AC couldn't

The shroud was tricky to fit right for me, using tape to block off the regions where the air flows into instead of out of the fan was significantly easier to adjust

I am assumimg you turn the base over before putting fan on top? (It seems common sense to me but just wanted to be sure)

They are inexpensive to make, and you can make them for your friends and neighbors, too. Ideally, government agencies and nonprofits should be giving people the things they need to make them, but unfortunately, I don’t think we are there yet.

YES I have little ones going in each room (mini filters and computer fans) and they have made SUCH a difference

These are cheap and super effective. I made a ton for my apartment and kids’ daycare during Covid. However, they are huge and loud. For a longer term solution (tho more expensive), I love cleanairkits.com
