whenever anyone runs for president they creep up that scale at least temporarily

"Dems need to message better" It doesn't actually matter, when the average American is an apathetic self-absorbed idiot running on vibes.

The vibes are affected, or more accurately, manipulated, by the most effective messaging

Which will never be heard because the media is owned by the oligarchy.

Look if you institute Leninist democratic centralism that controls comms for every elected democrat you may have a strategy here but as it stands people outrun their party by less every cycle due to polarization.

Overall there are quite a few strange perceptions here. But (IMO) it's more a reflection of how the media portrays politicians than their actual policies. And the right wing media picks out certain politicians to cast as "extremists."

The average adult thinks AOC and Kamala Harris are basically interchangeable and equally “far left.”

Ответ для Craig Harrington

They are, but Kamala Harris was actually effective, that's why the left hates her.

It’s maddening how words don’t mean anything anymore. It’s all vibes people have been manipulated into having thanks to corporate media and the Republican Party saying absolute batshit crazy lies so brazenly that people assume they have to be saying true things.

And then there’s the weirdly hostile Bluesky ”lefty” contingent who refuse to use the term “neoliberal” when bitching about exactly that type of person (calling them “libs”), because they either don’t know the term, or they actively want to reframe liberals as neoliberals for some fucking reason.

They literally don’t know the difference, and they will argue with you if you show them the definition along with your degree in politics.

I'm a social democrat and lefty as f. Im not willing to give this up bc my party merged with greens. I can read a program. No Im not a member anymore. But if they want to delete themselves I can use the damn name whenever I want :P

16% of people calling Liz Cheney "leftwing" Umm okay

America on Liz Cheney:

Sixteen percent placing Liz Cheney as left of center was not on my bingo card.

Theres a tendencu for low info voters (read: morons) to assume any minority or female politician is more radical than they really are. I suspect this is not helped by the media portraying them as more radical than they really are.

I think primarily her opposition to Trump is taken as leftism here. People don’t really think about pr even know about granular policy on the whole, it’s team based

Ответ для altamahaha

Uh not Liz Cheney lol. It's because she hates trump, and if you oppose the right, you must be left (according to the American voters, the dumbest people in the world)

And 40% not sure 🤔

These are the proverbial “swing voters” - none of whom has looked at the news for the last 20 years apart from Facebook posts
