There are only three possible futures: a) everyone in the Trump admin goes to jail, rule of law partially restored; b) Dems retaliate in full, and maybe that's a deterrent; c) neither (a) nor (b), so lawless authoritarianism wins again, and when Republicans regain power they ramp it up even more.

The Fauci hearing perfectly illustrated how living through a once in a century pandemic somehow made Republicans far worse on public health. God forbid we face anything like covid again during Trump 2.0. There will be no Dr Fauci around to try to talk sense to Trump.

I had exactly this thought about Salam about 15 years ago and it's been the same ever since. He moves in their social circles, talks in their cadences, attends their events, and is genial to them in person, so he gets no pushback whatsoever for enabling & defending moral horrors.
