I'd love it if a reporter in Rep. Emmer's or Rep. Rulli's district showed them how their own rhetoric about Somali and Haitian immigrants today is almost verbatim the rhetoric that an earlier generation of racist nativists spewed against their own German and Italian ancestors.

Kevin M. Kruse

In recent weeks, congressmen like Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN) and Rep. Michael Rulli (R-OH) have leveled racist attacks against immigrant communities in their districts. As I note in CAMPAIGN TRAILS, a century ago those same racist attacks were being made against people named Emmer and Rulli.

Actually did something and donated to the Haitian Community and Support Center emergency fund, consider doing the same if you can: ancljkuy.donorsupport.co/page/FUNDVDT...

Stand with Haitian Families in CrisisBuild the Emergency Fund that protects families when everything feels uncertain. The end of TPS. Increasing ICE actions. Families losing work authorization overnight. For Haitian parents and children ...ancljkuy.donorsupport.coMegan Wachspress

The Trump administration has done many terrible things but what they have done to the 350,000 Haitians living as our neighbors and colleagues and carers, even if not a single one is deported (and there will be many deported, to death) is I think among the worst.

They keep trying to make voter ID sound common sense, but all they wind up doing is making themselves sound like elites who haven't done regular-people shit in a decade. "You need to show photo ID to buy groceries or medicine!" Sure, sure, Scrooge McDuck, that's definitely how it works.

Aaron Rupar

Rep. John McGuire on need for the SAVE America Act: "You can't go anywhere, you can't get medicine, you can't go to the Obama museum without a photo ID."

Massive coverage loss in SNAP, and even more massive losses in Medicaid, will be among the *eligible*. Congress designed a dystopian set of administrative requirements that, by design, will make it practically impossible for eligible individuals to access coverage.

Kathleen Bachynski

“Experts worry that the litany of unanswered questions surrounding medical frailty will lead to more vulnerable people getting kicked out of the program. Preliminary estimates from the Congressional Budget Office suggest over 7 million people will lose coverage in coming years.”
