Submitting AI hallucinations to court is always professional negligence, but the potential consequences here are far more serious than any case I have seen before. Time to start disbarring lawyers for cases as serious as this. And the first instance judge missing it is unimpressive too.

I am normally the first to defend civil servants. However, if this reporting is true then there should be mass firings and if at all legally feasible, criminal charges. To butcher a West Wing quote: everyone who did it, everyone who ordered it, and everyone who knew about it.

It's standard scaremongering about migrants, which adapts to different environments. During the Brexit process, a "Migration Watch" dude falsely claimed at a conference that the withdrawal agreement let EU citizens bring in an unlimited number of distant family members.

it is *outrageous* that this has now become accepted as fact, and is endlessly rolled out on any social platform you care to mention despite corrections. who you can actually bring if you're on a visa: your spouse and kid(s). that's it

Home Office used ‘AI hallucinated’ information to refuse asylum claim, judge suggests

Ah, I had thought that the Tories were jumping on poor journalism from the Times re immigration - in fact the party was the *original source* of the false claims, which the paper neglected to check or clearly attribute. Incompetent, unprofessional, dubious, and xenophobic behaviour all round.
