The "electability" argument in a party primary, especially one rooted in hypothetical head-to-head general election match ups have never worked and are often flat-out wrong. At this point, they just scream desperation.

Ken JenningsFor the record: NOPE. Honestly, I don’t think there’s an issue today I care about on a personal level more deeply than trans rights. And it’s rough out there right now. Bigots on one side of the political aisle and too many cowards on the other. ⬇️
"i care deeply about this issue but not enough to make even a token symbolic gesture about it"

To the cis people slurping up the non-apology from Ken Jennings: You are only revealing how much you are NOT a trans ally.

Yeah, Kat Tenbarge was much nicer to Jack Osbourne than I would have been, I would have just told him to go fuck himself. Also, if you're going to accuse a writer or journalist of using "AI" on the basis of em dashes, absolutely positively go fuck yourself.
Kat TenbargeSo I woke up this morning to find out that Ozzy Osbourne’s son made a video falsely accusing me of using AI to write a Rolling Stone article about the Tate brothers.
It's so condescending! It's insulting to the "middle of the country" to be like yeah, we've got to push right-wing social policies to appeal to inbred mouthbreathers (how she sees "real America"), and screw "the coasts" because they'll fall in line. And honestly, fuck that shit.
I really hate Elissa Slotkin's patronizing "my theory of the case is that what works in the middle of the country will work on the coasts, but not the other way around" shit. It's one of her canned lines that she uses in her eventual attempt to run for president.
I post for the people who grew up wailing “ahhhh! ahhhh!” in perfect time with the lady slumped backward over a gravestone in the Masterpiece: Mystery! opening credits and still do it every single time.
To bring it full circle, neither JK, nor Sex Matters, nor anyone else named in Amnesty's report has contested the facts. They don't dispute the positions they advocate for. They don't dispute the funding increase. They don't dispute the types of people providing that funding.
And it's always this. In a legal system where truth is not a defense and rights only exist post-facto if you the money to defend them, the interests of the rich and powerful will always win.
You don't just need them to stop calling you a baddie, you need them grovelling at your feet for even suggesting you weren't a goodie. First they're wrong, then they've offended you, then they've lied, then they're the baddies who need to atone.
as we all remember, voters' reaction to "defund the police" and a preference for libertarian COVID policy led to Joe Biden's devasting loss in 2020 whereas by focusing on kitchen table issues and refusing to be baited into defending trans people or Palestinians, Kamala Harris won in 2024
I agree strongly with this -- in that difficult moment, the possibility of collective effort was conceivable. Not everybody felt it, but many did. I think the political class did not like this one bit.
Dave AndressCovid lockdowns demonstrated, in a deeply imperfect way, the possibility of large-scale social solidarity for a higher cause. That is a prime reason why so many powerful people want us to run screaming away from them into the comforting arms of selfish individualist competition.
I told this story back on the bird site, but I had an abusive ex I had to flee, like find a place to live and move while he was out, and after a while mail showed up for him at my new place he shouldn't have known about. I called the cops and they were like "well if he kills you, let us know."
Em, midlyIt’s so funny when people are like “sure you’re an abolitionist now but wait until you’re the victim of a property crime.” Buddy, the most useful thing the police have ever done for property crime is put the form you need to submit to your insurance online.
if you want to relitigate “lockdowns” you need to say what period, what country, and what restrictions you are talking about !

Boosting this because there's still 48 long hours until payday and I am hungry, under-medicated and under-caffeinated. No promises about which order I would address those problems in.
