Side note from studying Arabic in college: if your brain is wired for pattern recognition + systems thinking, it's a particularly cool language to learn because of its organized structure. Like Hebrew, it uses a 3-letter consonant root, which you then build off to create related words.

Btw: along with Maine, I'd suggest Dems look to Iowa for clues on why 287(g) hasn't taken off in some states, esp. relative to their neighbors. Iowa only has 2 active agreements: the state Dept. of Public Safety + Marion County sheriff (pop 34K, just outside Des Moines).

Even before the new state-level ban started this week, local participation was both uncommon and unpopular, with just 1 recent agreement that was canceled last fall.
I won't go as far as saying this is weird, but it's *very* unusual for this list to go without an update for this long. Usually gets an update every day or two, with an occasional gap of 3 business days at most. And they've even updated it on Sundays!
