Latest addition to the 2nd Plague Pandemic biblio: "this article ... asks how often women were employed as wage workers in the rural economy of medieval England, how they were paid relative to men, and to what extent change is evident after the Black Death." www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

So what using ableist language does, ultimately, is it signals norms and beliefs about devaluing Disabled people. And a culture that devalues Disabled people is dangerous to Disabled people.
EbOne way ableist insults work against people who aren't Disabled (or Disabled in the referenced way) is to use the /implication/ of belonging to a devalued group or being like a devalued group's members to transfer that same devaluation onto a non-group member. I know that's a lot to parse.
If anyone's trying to put together a handwriting class for penitent reactionaries, please know that your friendly neighborhood calligrapher is totally on board to teach lessons...
Claire WillettOH MY GOD GUYS okay so priests who want back in have to find a bishop willing to vouch for them, swear fealty to Vatican II and then HAND-WRITE THE POPE AN APOLOGY LETTER (I gues so he knows they didn’t use AI? 😂) and are on probation for 1-3 years this is ten times spicier than I even thought

All y’all book history nerds, historical making nerds, or just plain nerd nerds, Sean Silver posted the recipes and instructions for making historical ink that we used in our “Thinking Through Printing” symposium workshop last week. Go brew some stuff, get inky!
An Ink-Making Workshop - The Motley EmblemI recently ran an ink-making session in Toronto at the Thinking Through Printing workshop– a sort of colloquium of pressmasters and book-lab directors from across North America. Inks and washes … Rea...sites.rutgers.edu⟳ Репост от Siglum Calligraphy
This was MUCH more interesting than I thought it would be. Typesetting! Syllabification! Aldus Pagemaker! Loebs! And a living and contrite Chortlemuffin! And at the bottom of the rabbit hole is someone many of us #bookhistory types studied with. youtu.be/kL1PDqzqhM4?...
