My review of this week's Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, a haunted house story with some interesting ideas it repeats a few too many times:

There is this. Cher prior to the events of Clueless is no more interesting than Elle prior to the events of Legally Blonde. I'm skeptical this will be a great piece of IP mining, but "grown-up Cher watches her daughter enter high school" is an idea that could make sense as a premise.

[command-F... wonder m] Good, good. Would have yelled if that wasn't there. Also, you need to include Vanisher again whenever you do the list of the silliest comic book alter ego names. The guy who can teleport's real name is... Telford Porter? Maybe only Rainbow Raider is worse on that front.

Well, at least this makes more sense as a straightforward legasequel than the previous attempt to make it a mystery about Cher's disappearance. What is dead may never die.

I just remember hearing a DVD commentary or something where a producer or Alan Parker said they filmed the scene because someone had a bet over whether the movie could produce a number one hit song. And that cover hit number 1 on the charts in one country for a week, even though it's not in the film

I was recently made aware of both the existence of this and the fact that Lemmon and Curtis cameo briefly. (Amazing that they go to the trouble of plastic surgery and almost immediately have to then don disguises on top of that.) The Tina Louise of it all — and her NOT doing her Marilyn — is wild.

And it's a deleted scene, isn't it? The song is on the soundtrack, but they realized they shouldn't have Jimmy sing in the movie.

I don't know. I think Carmy and Syd being a couple would have been awful, and I'm glad the show never went there. But I can at least squint and see why someone might have thought that was where we were headed, at least in s1. There was never *any* suggestion of it with Ted and Rebecca.

As we prepare for the return of Ted Lasso, I'm reminded of that very bizarre but vehement "Ted and Rebecca are endgame" subset of the fandom, and wondering whether their belief was more or less a case of willful blindness than "The *real* Stranger Things finale is going to come out next week!"

I'm sorry, I got it wrong. It's Roger Moore and James Coburn in the previous versions.
