He's the guitar player, not the main attraction, but this clip is special to me because it shows how a new band - seemingly in real time - realizes they have something special.

And it's a deleted scene, isn't it? The song is on the soundtrack, but they realized they shouldn't have Jimmy sing in the movie.

Yeah, I believe you're right about that. I was kind of surprised when I revisited the film recently, then put two and two together.

I just remember hearing a DVD commentary or something where a producer or Alan Parker said they filmed the scene because someone had a bet over whether the movie could produce a number one hit song. And that cover hit number 1 on the charts in one country for a week, even though it's not in the film
