Manga review: Machiko Kyo’s Cocoon stresses the limits of escapism Machiko Kyo's harrowing and disarming tale of young women on the front lines of war reminds us that escapism can only go so far in the face of violence.
"Harkham’s cartooning conveys Alvarez’s cool calmness as he faces the death penalty; this is clearly a man who has other plans than facing the hangman’s noose." Scott on Sammy Harkham's Crickets #9. www.fromcovertocover.com/sammy-harkha...
Harvey & Joyce's adopted daughter Danielle is trying to raise funds to deal with Pekar's raw archive; basically four storage lockers full of notes, outlines, ideas, etc. Note this is not Pekar's comics per se. Those rights have been tied up in court for years. Long, ugly story. Worth backing.
Anyway, in happier news, our 'Fantagraphics at 50' Month begins today at @brokenfrontier.bsky.social. Interviews! Reviews! EXCLUSIVE previews! Thanks to our wonderful team at BF for working so hard on this.

I know there are some freaks among you who need to know that this is a thing that exists, so allow me to say: this is a thing that exists.
We went from “comics aren’t just for kids” to “superheroes aren’t safe for kids”.
Maybe the most discussed subject at San Diego Comic Con was the leak of the Eisner Awards winners list. But what really happened with that? I did my best to piece it together, and then wrote about its (perhaps surprising) impact on the event itself.
