Let’s be clear here, when scientists say mistakes were made at the start of the pandemic, we DO NOT mean that we did too much. We mean not socially distancing quickly enough, not making tests widely available, and not acknowledging COVID is airborne and distributing N95 masks to everyone.
Did a thing with my buddy David. Took us sixteen months and there’s no way we coulda done it on our own, so feeling glad we found each other along the way! breachmedia.ca/canadian-uni...

"If we ever intended to change anything, however, we had to begin by perceiving ourselves as citizens, rather than as consumers. It is consumption, after all, that’s kept us from taking meaningful action."
Ximena GonzálezCanada’s hot, smoky summers seem to have become the norm. We know how we got here. We’ve spent the last few decades voting with our wallets, making more sustainable choices, but we can’t shop our way out of extinction. New from me 👇
Coming off of a sabbatical, I've been trying to articulate what I've been feeling about teaching in the age of LLMs. But I've come to realize that it's grief, pure and simple. The best part of my job has become the most demoralizing, and we've been abandoned by our university administrations.
Randall Stephens"In the past few years, I’ve spoken to a number of academics and instructors at the college and high-school level who have said similar things. They talk about a sense of loss and of despair, because the one thing that brought them meaning has been erased, or blotted out, by the arrival of A.I."
he’s gutting the public sector, he’s holding back on pharmacare deals, he tried to pull money out of daycare, he’s letting two-tier healthcare gain a foothold in alberta, and now he’s coming for public healthcare funding too

After two separate investigations into procurement corruption, and an ongoing RCMP criminal investigation of procurement, the UCP govt of Danielle Smith still awards a $300K contract to her former campaign advisor's company, claiming it was an open competition when there is no evidence of that.
Canada's National ObserverDanielle Smith's office has awarded a $300,000 government contract to an advertising agency co-founded by her former campaign advisor.
The entire country is on fire and he's boasting about how much he's wasting on the military industrial complex
Mark CarneyCanada’s next fleet of armoured vehicles will be built right here in London, Ontario by GDLS-Canada. These will be feats of engineering — more than 6000 workers from more than 600 Canadian suppliers across the country will help design, build, and sustain them for years to come.
The fact that Carney is posting this today shows that he genuinely doesn't give a single solitary shit about the climate crisis that is BURNING SWATHS OF CANADA AS WE SPEAK
Mark CarneyThe world wants to do more with Canada. Our MOU with Alberta will unlock those opportunities in energy — and create lasting benefits for Canadians.

"Fighting climate change is too expensive, actually. We need to build more pipelines." - Carney fans
Richard WaiteDangerous record-breaking heat linked to climate change could be somewhat moderated this week by the presence of dangerous wildfire smoke in the air linked to climate change. Do I have that right?
