Fire in the mountains was utterly incredible. Beautiful, restorative. It might accurately be called heavy metal adult summer camp for a good cause.

Queer Episcopalian thirty something. History, theology, trees, heavy metal. Soc-Dem Left-Lib I guess, with a soft spot for anarchist thought. Commissar of PMC class consciousness.

As an Episcopal priest, this describes my life. ⚓️
madeline odentThere is a skill, an art even, to enthusiastically greeting someone who comes up to you, who you’ve clearly spoken to many times, and contextualising them based on questions that gather details without them realising that you’re doing that.
I think part of this is that admitting that the public is at fault for public distrust of science requires science communicators to admit how limited their power to persuade is.
Michael HobbesThe piece also has a ton of victim blaming. It's not the anti-science movement's fault that public opinion has shifted against public health, it's the public health authorities they're constantly lying about!

The actual harsh truth about MAHA is that it is an anti-vaxx, anti-science, pro-diarrhea conspiracy movement. It cloaks its arguments in abstractions about "big pharma" and "free speech" to generate *the exact op-ed The Atlantic keeps publishing*. Movements like this need to be fought, not placated.

shannon watts and fred guttenberg each taking the bait on this to feign outrage and defend a guy who, as mayor, pulled a shotgun on a constituent, is pretty fucking gross

the fight/don't fight axis remains the most important fault line in democratic politics, and that the moderates have mostly failed to find any way to take the 'fight' side is why they are getting their asses handed to them in primaries right now
G Elliott MorrisThis is why DSA candidates are really taking off now instead of eg in 2020 or 2018 www.gelliottmorris.com/p/2026-07-07...

100%. They all got fucking galaxy brained about “affordability” and talked themselves into doing nothing while also not doing the actual permitting reform that is within their specific power. bsky.app/profile/shay...
Shay O’Reillyanyways congrats to democratic states, many of which have now weakened their RPSes, denied new electric transmission on the rate base, etc., whose energy bills WILL STILL GO UP and now are also going to have more local + climate pollution, fewer jobs, and a moral stain.
