One would think that sooner or later the US would stop being so fundamentally irrational under both parties and cease in the nonstop creation of frameworks which privilege Israel and give it veto points at every step of the way, but this is DC's favorite hobby.

Viruses do not care about politics. The next pandemic will arrive whether we are ready or not. History will judge us by whether we learned enough from it to protect the next generation. Read my full commentary below ⬇️
CIDRAPCOMMENTARY by @mtosterholm.bsky.social: The pandemic debate the US isn't having When the Senate hearing featuring Dr. Fauci ended, one vital question remained not only unanswered but largely absent from the discussion: How will the US be better prepared for the next pandemic? https://bit.ly/4yTKSsD
Heads up, Varanid Vixens: I got a NOICE drop coming this week. 👀 Liora approved the beads, too!
A lot of the value of Western intellectual property is entirely fictional and derived solely from the power of Western military might. A lot of the legalized wealth discrepancy between the West and the rest of the world is papered fiction to justify realities caused by balance of military forces.

When Uber Eats and DoorDash hid the tip button, delivery workers paid the price. Tips fell by 79%. In January, we changed that. Since then, more than $104 million has gone back into the pockets of the delivery workers who keep New York City fed.

Like, is Hank Green talking to a disembodied voice in his phone and calling it work? Does he take notes from the voice? Is he telling the voice to take notes of what it's saying? Again, don't tell me. I'm from the past, and I don't care and I don't want to know?
He's just talking pop-science gibberish. The contemporary Four Humors are just dopamine, cortisone, oxytocin and serotonin. All behavior is explained by too much or too little of one of them lol.
There is a gambling element to AI; you often wind up pulling the lever over and over again to try to get it to spit out what you want and it's exciting when it does.
Yeah definitely this... I've never understood why for *this* particular use there would be any sense of pleasure or accomplishment. "Oh look, something gave me some homework that I will now have to spend ages laboriously fact-checking rather than doing my own work" is not my idea of a good time.
Kate HolzemerAnother thought: in his statement, Hank Green expressed quite a lot of shame about the "dopamine hit" he gets from using AI. As a non-AI user I don't really know what he's referring to here. Is the AI voice flattering him while also doing his job (presumably poorly)? Because that's big weird.
Jonathan Paz’s job was to convince cities to buy Flock cameras. After initially being enthusiastic about the company, he started to get disillusioned. He talks to @josephcox.bsky.social about the "propaganda" inside the company, and why he decided to leave. Watch now: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKYY...

Many think storage units are low priority, but nothing could be further from the truth. Losing everything you have all because you can't pay for it, is a tragedy. Another $50 has come in, thank you so much! Now at $65 of my storage, $300 which was due yesterday. If I can catch up by tomorrow, I'll avoid the hefty $50 late fee. Please consider chipping in? And please keep sharing!
'My friends, I am devastated. I am living through a hell of bombing, hunger, and an earthquake that we have endured for the past few hours, and I haven't received any donations. I urgently need your help. We have no food. This is an urgent appeal; I desperately need $200. Please don't abandon me.'
'Hunger is devouring me & my children while Gaza’s hell swallows us alive 💔Eviction is imminent. My children keep crying from hunger & fear while bombs fall around us...$500 will save us. Please…don’t let my children die of hunger. Don’t let us be thrown into the street while we starve.'
Imagine being a 12 year-old girl, forced to allow a male sports doctor to "examine" your genitals to determine whether you can play softball. Horrifying.
Gillian BranstetterAn initiative on the ballot in Washington state in November would require all athletes seeking to play girl's sports from kindergarten to high school to undergo "genetic screening, a testosterone-levels test, or an examination of their reproductive anatomy" before they can play
Combing through Facebook this morning, looking at the early origins of the anti-trans athletes campaign here in WA state. Found an AI-filtered image used to drastically masculinize the appearance of the trans girl athlete… perhaps the origin of the “young girls competing against grown men” line.
