OMG when I burnt-out horribly and quit my job in 2023 @chuckwendig.bsky.social and several other authors got together to get me a vast gift card from a fancy cheese place and when I got it I CRIED AND CRIED it was such a kind, unexpected gesture cheese for the win! cheese for emotional support!!

This was also an early experience (me going "Excuse me, sorry?" "Pardon me?" "Sorry?" "Oh I'm so sorry") of some barmaids in Scotland/Ireland making a kind of... generic, friendly noise which TRANSLATED into Canadian means "Can I get you anything else there my love or are you all right for now?"

-- I don't think I have a photo but many MANY years ago (2012) I had an INCREDIBLE cheddar at a random pub in Scotland but I didn't write down what it was. :( They gave me a cheese plate with my whiskey! For no reason! Because we just got to chatting! :D

I love SO MANY CHEESES. Must shout-out Brie de Meaux of which I ate approximately 27 lbs last year. Love a tasty local butterkäse grilled cheese (with thin-sliced apple or tomato). Then to fry a halloumi. Or spread a rochefort on toast (with a wee sprinkle of demerara sugar on top). And also --
