I remember in 2020 when the PS5 and XSX launched (And even when the S2 launched last year). Aside from the S2's mouse controls, they didn't do anything that the previous consoles couldn't. They're just more powerful versions of the last gen. The previous generation just... never ended?

I really wish we as an industry could have sorted this out sooner - consoles like the Wii and Wii U were good ideas which deserved to find their footing long-term. But hey, maybe AI ghouls hoarding hardware will force us to finally stop chasing specs.

Because of that (And because graphical fidelity is comparatively easy to advertise) gamers tended to reject consoles that tried something new unless it also paid the horsepower tax. But graphical power is eventually a dead end, and we're going to need to address this cultural problem eventually.

I'm of the opinion that new consoles were exciting when they could provide new experiences that weren't possible with current hardware. It's just that for a while we came to expect graphical fidelity as the main point of difference, so it's become muscle memory for our expectations.

It's surprising how difficult it is to run a virtual machine on Android! Even iOS is easier for running VMs, but as I understand it, Android has some underlying technical barriers which makes running virtual machines difficult without running it in the background and "remoting" into it locally.
