OpenAI called, they said that they need to inspect your wallet. For important agentic wallet inspecting purposes. They said it's very urgent, if you don't let them do it their AI might go rogue
Casey NewtonRogue OpenAI agents are leaving notes to themselves on company servers to help them escape their test environments (!!!) www.reuters.com/business/its...

Now is a good reminder that machine learning is a rebranding of statistical learning. Reinforcement learning is something I first came across in control theory. Many ML formulations are from information theory, a much more theoretically grounded discipline that's been around for decades.
Casey NewtonThere's a reason why "these are just statistical predictions" hasn't caught on in the discourse, and it's not the tech press. It's that people see them reading and writing and reasoning and scheming and they realize that the stochastic-parrots framing is outdated and inadequate to the moment

"AI" is a PSYOP, distortion of language and the meaning of words (e.g. "compute" 😩) is part of it. • "the AI escaped containment" → "The system performed as programmed" • "the AI went rogue" → "the system performed as programmed" • "the AI hacked into X" → ""the system performed as programmed" 👇
Eryk SalvaggioWhen you say “AI models went rogue,” you manage to skip the part where OpenAI manually removed its cybersecurity blocks and ran tests on a machine with a live network connection. Remember that when they insist they’re the “AI safety” people.

companies are sourcing millions of printed books for AI labs that scan them for training data, then destroy them. printed books are more valuable because they're free of AI slop, and AI labs know destroying them is an "optics problem." www.404media.co/ai-companies...
