Seeing some nice photos out of Marquette, Michigan currently. Stunning, red pillars through the sunset! Don't have permission to share the photo, unfortunately but just an FYI that the lights are out!
Our mutual aid distro ran out of hot meals in 25 minutes last night. Usually, it takes 90 and we’ve even had leftovers to put in community fridge. People are frantic for any donations we have to distribute. The increased precarity is palpable.
sarah zedig 🐐it's not just that means testing unfairly gatekeeps care from people on the edges of the economic goldilocks zone. the logic ripples out through culture and influences how we talk about poverty, race, and disability. we do not talk about helping people without first talking about who not to help.
Either way, the awfulness and pain and death was all real. The toll was heavy for all of us, especially if you couldn’t work from home and had a newborn. Fuck anybody who downplays it!

Still can’t over the fact that the president of the United States just told an entire state to pound sand after getting cyberattacked by a foreign adversary because they didn’t vote for him and it was treated like a Tuesday lol

I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.
Please stop saying “lockdowns.” There were never true lockdowns in the US, and it fuels far right narratives to repeat this inaccurate statement. You can say closures, you can say restrictions, or better, you can say public health measures which saved many lives.
Dr. Lucky TranPeople still complain about “lockdowns” but we had none in the US. We had stay-at-home orders, where although businesses were closed, you could still go outside whenever you wanted. Other countries had far stricter rules, and yet have been much more accepting of them as they saved many more lives.
Simba's square is no longer hanging where I released it. I have not heard from the person who found it. I rarely do. #TheCatJoyProject

. NO MORE ICE KILLINGS A road construction sign on Brighton Ave in Portland, Maine was hacked to read "NO MORE ICE KILLINGS" this past Monday morning, two weeks after the murder of Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero. This should be a regular thing in every town and city in America. 📸 WGME #MEpolitics

To folks driving back to their burnt down homes — PLEASE BE CAREFUL. Your home is a hazard site and very toxic. Your soil will eventually have to be remediated and removed. Electronics and appliances and cars that burn make it v dangerous.
