‼️‼️‼️ We had a set of World Book AND Britannica (why? did my parents encounter two separate but very persuasive door-to-door salesmen??) it was veritable treasure trove for moments of boredom!

Even before I was as loud of a trans supporter as I am now, I always knew the whole ‘unfair sports’ argument never made sense to me. Sports aren’t fair! They’ve never been fair. Thats why we watch them. The athletes are all different. Its the dumbest way to pigeonhole trans people.

The thing about writing is that most of what you read is coming from strangers whose interiority you have no access to. So your response will almost always be about you. Smart writing acknowledges this, and tries to account for it

Poehler (who was married and no longer is) doesn’t tap into her own experiences to further the conversation. Which is fine! She’s entitled to that privacy! But because she also has limited knowledge or curiosity, she can’t engage in a meaningful conversation about this. It’s just so empty (boring)

1) I don’t think we should look to celebrities to have a cogent analysis of this topic, but 2) this just underscores the limitations of these celebrity confab podcasts. Hall is broaching the topic but Poehler is incapable of doing anything with it, even just to ask her guest questions related to it!

You know this is the part that always interests me!!! How does what we see on screen shape our own real world perceptions and understanding of anything (in this case, aging)
