so far the most interesting critiques of the odyssey have something in common: they take the depiction of odysseus as basically good/decent at face value rather than as yet another sign he’s an unreliable narrator of his own behavior. when i see it again soon ill be focusing on that. not sure yet!

there are people arguing that the sack of Troy was sanitized in the odyssey and that is one I can’t really rock with, sorry. plenty awful to me! Tend to your heart, friends.

it’s interesting that most critiques of how Nolan portrays women elide Tenet. Kat’s arc starts in the typical supporting role but resolves with her deciding “no, you are helping ME with MY revenge”

two biggest complaints: 1. spider man is still on computer! Get him away from that shit. He can stick to walls and swing from webs why does he need computer. no more screen time for Peter 2. Eating little Caesar’s in NEW YORK CITY. I almost walked out

new Spider-Man pretty handily clears the low bar of best MCU thing in some time. First time it feels like a comic book universe in a way that doesn’t immediately feel like homework. works better if you aren’t current, in fact, because you’ll have more questions if you are,like why is hulk like that

Riffing off what @unwinnabledavid.bsky.social said, there is a distinct difference between BDS and the upcoming playstation boycotts in that one is understood to be "political" (bad) and the other is "apolitical" (good), and I think this is why a lot of people are ignoring the former, esp. in media
