In my essay for @qianawhitted.bsky.social Desegregating Comics, I wrote a little ab Emmett Till as a comics reader. The bed he was in when he was kidnapped was piled with comics and magazines; one of his Chicago neighbors said a bit about his comics reading. He was a kid. He should still be here.

Major Motoko in progress! All of Masamune Shirow’s work was a major influence on my first published comics, and I’ve been loving the new animated Ghost In The Shell! It showcases so much of Shirow’s zany humor, emotion, sexiness & existential focus better than any previous adaptation I’ve seen.

Today marks 6 years since John Lewis passed on to the other side. Memories swirling with everywhere we traveled, people & communities moved by our work, bonds forged over those years & how John’s example impacted the lives of my kids at such a young age— still do, and always will. 💜
