I have three huge meetings today. One is about setting up my LLC and a nonprofit …. Stay tuned. Love that I’m in my Batcave office and wearing the t-shirt my daughter designed for these meetings!

Who are we going to see at NCTE in Philly this year?

Stunning art and colors. Historical connections that I’ll use for the Cold War. Perhaps even a conversation for Bio class about alternative human evolution?

If you’re in the T Tock app… I could use your help in getting some views. As an introvert, it isn’t easy for me to share videos instead of images, but I’m going to do more video posts.

Out today! OMG! Doom time travels and becomes George Washington… I won’t spoil the story - but it’s amazing! Going into my classroom and lesson planning. Wow!

I’ll be giving these away on my Teaching with Comics Facebk page later today. Be sure to follow the page soon for a chance to win. History reimagined. #teachingwithcomics #comics #teacher #teachers

Always flattered when someone asks for a signed copy of my book… I throw in a little extra.

Ugh. With everything going on… I missed the NYCC panel proposal deadline. If you can use me on a panel, hit me up. Thanks!

Holy Act of Congress! Equal Pay Act commercial to encourage reporting of unequal pay. Commercials and pop culture are artifacts

A few years ago, my family and I attended the Eisner Awards as my book was up for an award. While we didn’t win, it was an amazing experience I will treasure forever. This was the speech I would have given.

My co-teacher & I met today and: - resurrected & redesigned our gamification cards & plan; - made plans for student reading goals and formal reading conferences; and - retooled our research unit, using nonfiction graphic novels as springboards for DBQs & multimodal group projects. #leadELA

If you don’t use this to introduce grammar, are you really even teaching!?! 😆. Batgrammar for the win! “You can’t get away from Batman that easy.” -Robin “Easily” -Batman “Easily” -Robin “Good grammar is essential, Robin.” - Batman “Thank you, Batman.” -Robin “You’re welcome. Now - let’s get them!”

A most excellent way to teach about Shakespeare and personal interpretation! Each letter has its own illustration that summarizes an important point and adds so much depth. Then each illustration is also annotated by Tom! Imagine using this book to inspire students to do the same. Love love love!!!!

We are ALL teachers of reading and writing - every course and every level. I love these books that combine math and literacy! Real-life issue combined with engaging fiction. Students can then create their own math based story.

Teaching students how to be active readers and interact with text. Note-taking/textbook reading strategies. Text to text analysis skills - with a focus on the Odyssey and pop culture buy-in. All this and much more in this week’s blog. www.historycomics.net/timsmythblog...
