When I was a kid, my parents were divorced and neither had much money, so cable TV was sometimes a thing and sometimes not. But I had a radio, and our TV had rabbit ears, so I could get tons of local news and close to half of the Canucks games for free without worrying.

I'm ranking every mall in Metro Vancouver, and here's my essay on the second entry in my quest: Admiralty Centre in Richmond! It has a great food court, but can a great food court overcome...well, pretty much everything else about Admiralty? Read on!
Just heard that enquiries to various car companies in the UK about their pure electric models have increased 'tenfold' in the last week. Interesting not petrol hybrids, which obviously require petrol, all the time... because they're petrol powered vehicles. Just an observation.
Found this little beauty in an old diary. I didn't make it up. Don't know who did. Remember there's nothing to stop you living your dreams, apart from thousands of far more talented people working much harder than you.
Here is @bychrischeung.bsky.social's lovely essay on Aberdeen Mall! www.foodcourtinsession.ca/mall-1-aberd... We gave the mall 36.3/50, because any ranking project has to be ridiculously tough to get a high score on, even when it's good (also aberdeen's anchor tenants are lacking for a big place)
Just in time to plan my return to Vancouver… Aberdeen is obviously on the agenda: “There is no mall like Aberdeen in Metro Vancouver. It’s both a portal to East Asia and a centre of Chinese Canadian life; both for local tourists and tourists who have become locals.”…I very much feel like the latter.
Raised intersections need to slow cars to pedestrian speed, like this example, otherwise they are pointless.
CBC Gem crashes due to Canadians using it
Mister Speaker, yesterday Mark Carney was in Toronto eating pizza with pineapple on it when hundreds of millions of Canadians don't have any pizza. My chef has told me Mark Carney has lost touch with common folk. When will the Prime Minister finally axe the costly Liberal's secret new pizza tax?!
After already putting the bus stop on the shoulder of a 60km/hr road then burying it in snow - City looking to now set it on fire in last ditch attempt to up ridership.
Slow-walking bus lanes? Although the City of Vancouver has promised to expand bus priority across the city, twice, these projects are getting scaled back and delayed. Promised back in 2023, deadlines are now being shifted into the unspecified future. Read the full article.
I rarely weigh in on these now but just as a reminder: We shame kids to be perfect despite already knowing that they are predictably NOT, that being said just look at the environment that we continually build for them to exist in.
City of CalgaryIntersection safety starts with all of us.🚦 Last year, 15 pedestrians lost their lives on our streets. This number must go down. January is Intersection Safety Month. This student-created video reminds us to slow down, put phones away, and stay cautious at intersections. calgary.ca/traffictips
